In the 21st century, the life of modern people is sharply changing through digitalized information that was realized by the remarkable advancement of hi-tech. The whole world is connected through a network, such that borders among cultural territories disappeared and diversified cultural aspects are shown thanks to the exchange between the East and the West.
As a study on transfer design by silhouette images, this study attempts to expand the position of modern transfer design and suggest its possibility as a new production means of cultural goods.
As an image of a sharply outlined object, silhouette has formative features of simplicity, planeness and clearness and has been properly used in surrealistic __EXPRESSION__ to induce imagination. In addition, silhouette has both the nature of back a s shadow such a s soul, phantom, unconsciousness of self and the symbolism of tension, silence and fear which are expressed in the color of black.
The researcher introduced nonsense __EXPRESSION__ in order to properly use such properties of silhouette and at the same time mitigate strong negative feelings.
Nonsense means a type of humor that may occur in an inconsistent situation. It is expressed in ways of disharmony, contradictory space and polysemy and has amusing and creative effects.
The work of this study expressed the title 'nostalgia for the origin of human being' by the above formative elements through the structure of a story. The book, a material of the work, sets new space on a dish and implies the progress of a descriptive story. It is suitable to the planeness of a silhouette image and is background of nonsense expresssion as a linear polysemous space, as well.
Throughout the course of the work, computer graphic drawing was used, which enables geometric and correct __EXPRESSION__ of the external appearance and repetition and editing of a motif, and ceramics transfer technique was expressed onto a dish.
In this study, the researcher tried to find a possibility of transfer design by silhouette images. The researcher expects the transfer technique to be in the spotlight as its function of tableware decoration as well as a new means to express and reveal a designer's artistic sense.
