작가는 공간과 기억 사이에 존재하는 관계성에 주목한다. 그것은 공간과 기억을 동시에 변모시킨다. 자신만의 세상을 지휘하려하는 여성의 섬세한 심리를 표현하려한다. 도자고유의 제작방식에 따라 인물들을 제작하고 가마에 구워져 나온 번조의 결과를 회화와 접목시키고 불의 흔적을 이미지로 재생산하여 배경에 더하는 과정을 통해 2차원과 3차원 사이에 있는 작업을 하는 것이다.

흙이란 다른 어떤 것보다 친숙하고 풍부한 표현 가능성을 지닌 물질이다. 흙의 따스한 질감이 고스란히 드러난 뽀얀 살 속에 내비치는 조용한 떨림을 촉각적으로 표현한다. 순백의 백자토로 만들어진 여인과 그을음이 피부에 얼룩진 상처의 몸에 각인된 상흔은 같은 표정이지만 다른 감각을 전한다. 때문에 순수하게 보이는 표정 안에서 많은 세상을 품고 상념하는 깊은 사색의 눈매가 혼재된 얼굴을 읽을 수 있다. 여인의 피부에 남겨진 불의 자욱은 몽환적이고 회화적인 산화물의 흔적을 남기며 고고학의 과정을 보여준다. 부드러운 속살의 질감은 그녀의 감정과 기억을 시각화시키며 불길이 스치고 지나간 흔적은 회색빛 얼룩을 남기지만 다분히 촉각적이고 따뜻함이 전해온다. 그것은 인공의 붓질과는 다른 우연성과 회화적 감성을 드러낸다. 평면과 입체, 인물과 공간, 그 속에서 만들어지는 이야기는 다양한 방식을 거쳐 공간 안에서 그녀의 세상을 조금씩 보여주고 있다.

그녀는 정원사이다. 사실 그녀가 정원사이든 공예가이든 무용가이든 연금술사와 같은 그녀의 삶에서 형식은 다변적일 수 있다. 답답한 현실에서 의식의 흐름을 이어가려 하는, 스스로를 치유하려는 행위로서 인공정원을 만들고 증식시키려는 몸짓에서 그녀만의 세상을 연출해내는 것이다. 이는 자연과의 교감이 주는 행복을 자신의 테두리안에서 보호하고 싶기 때문이다. 정원을 만든다는 것은 잃어버린 낙원을 되찾기 위한 시도이며 행위이며 기억을 인위적으로 각인하고 영혼의 상처를 치유받는 일이다.

어린 동물과 열매가 여인의 품에 있다. 그녀가 품은 것은 반짝이는 금처럼 보인다. 글래머러스하고 화려한 흙덩어리를 품음으로서 그녀는 강인함과 부드러움을 동시에 가질 수 있다고 믿었다. 금으로 치장한 오브제는 그녀의 피조물이자 어린 재물로 생경한 색감과 질감으로 여인은 사유의 작업을 꿈꾼다. 그녀가 안은 어린양과 열매는 금으로 치환되었지만 실은 진정한 자연과의 교감을 꿈꾸고 그 인공의 공간속에서 그녀는 영혼의 교감을 나누려한다. 윤정선

The artist carefully looks at the relation between space and self-memory. This activity itself transforms the memory. This is an attempt to express the sensitiveness of the female who tries to orchestrate her own ways of life. The process begins with creating characters out of clay through its original methodology which then becomes a result of the transformation happening in the kiln. The result is then added with expressed fine art to further characterize the image together with the natural formation of traces from the kiln to project a 2nd and 3rd dimension.

The clay is one of the most expressive yet friendly mediums that has the potential to offer endless __EXPRESSION__. The warmth of the clay beneath the skin of the character emphasizes a subtle tremble of soft skin. White porcelain is used for the female character but with natural traces of burning that differently express her hidden heartfelt wounds. The eyes show a a deep thinker who tries to withhold a complex world. The marks of the archeological oxide process of burning left on the skin, gives a dreamy yet painterly feel to the piece. Underneath the traces of grey burns, the underlying inner skin shyly visualizes her feelings and memories hoping to spread of a soft and warm feel. This is through a natural coincidental approach rather than an artificial attempt. Within dimensions, character and space, lies a story formed through various methods that slowly reveal the females world.

She is a gardener. In fact, doesn’t really matter whether she is a gardener or crafter or dancer. The alchemistic life of hers continues to evolve. Her life of trying hard to maintain a routine in this complex world, her creation of making an artificial garden is her own way of self-healing.

This is her trying to protect herself to gain happiness by connecting with nature within her self-cultivated border. Creating a garden is her attempt to regain her lost paradise and heal her souls’ wounds by carefully displaying her own memories through her artificial garden.

A small animal and fruit lie within her arms. They look as though they are shiny gold. By holding onto a glamourous and fancy piece of earth, she believes she can hold onto to strength and softness at the same time. The object in gold resembles the riches in unfamiliar colors and textures that reflect her desire to reason. The young lamb and fruit are colored gold and are her real desire to live in real coordination with nature while communicating with her spirit. Yoon Jung Sun
